Easy ways to go green

These days more and more people are doing anything and everything they can to take part in keeping the environment healthy. If you find the whole idea to be a bit intimidating but wish you had a way to take part; there are many ways and they don’t have to break the bank, expanding foam tape or take much of your time at all. It has become easier and easier in recent years for you to jump on board and help to keep the world a cleaner place; while also saving money for your family to spend on more important things.

Change How You Light Up Your Home

While your light bulbs may seem like such a minor detail in your home, the type you use makes a huge difference not only for the environment but also your electricity bill. If changing all your bulbs from the ones you have now to CFL bulbs is going to be pricy, think again. Not only are they more affordable but you can take on the process slowly by only installing them as the bulbs you have burn out. These bulbs are just as bright as the ones you have now but they don’t waste as much energy and are going to last much longer. They have been known to last 10 times as long as other bulbs and use 75% less energy.

Keep Things Off When Not In Use

While this may not seem like a big deal, many items within your home use quite a bit of energy when they are on. This truly adds up every single month. If you are one of those families who is always leaving things on such as your television, you may want to invest in smarter technology that turns off after a period of inactivity. Did you know there are TVs that turn off when you leave the room? May be something to think about.

Don’t think turning things off is good enough, either. A lot of items such as laptops and cell phone chargers use energy even when they aren’t in use. So, take the extra moment to unplug them completely when you don’t need them. This is going to help save you extra money without much effort.

Fix Your Home Up ASAP

If you have problems with your home such as a leaky faucet or some sort of electrical problem, do your best to fix them as quickly as you can. There is no point in wasting energy and money because in the long run, fixing the problem is going to cost much less.

ENERGY STAR Has Your Back

Whenever you are adding new electronics to your home, try to find an option that fits your needs that is ENERGY STAR approved. These products are created in a way that is easier on the environment and save energy. There is nothing better than knowing watching TV is saving you money and helping the environment. It just doesn’t get better than that!
